Prof. Teh Lay Kek

She is a pharmacist and academic specializing in pharmacogenetics, pharmacogenomics, and precision medicine. She co-founded Integrative Pharmacogenomics Institute (iPROMISE), a research centre of excellence at UiTM, where she played a pivotal role in advancing genomics and precision therapeutics research. She is also co-founder of Zakesy Biotech Sdn. Bhd., a start-up providing genetic testing and sequencing services to support clinical and wellness applications. Her research focuses on genetic variants in drug-metabolizing enzymes and transporters, elucidating their effects on pharmacokinetics, therapeutic outcomes, and adverse drug reactions, particularly in Asian populations. She has led impactful projects in molecular pharmacology, biomarker discovery, and translational genomics, with strong contributions to genomics-driven healthcare initiatives. Widely published and internationally recognized, Prof. Teh is committed to capacity building, clinical implementation of pharmacogenomics, and mentoring the next generation of scientists and pharmacists. Her specialization includes Pharmacogenetics, Pharmacogenomics, Precision Medicine, Drug Metabolism, Transporter Genetics, Adverse Drug Reactions, Translational Genomics, Molecular Pharmacology, Biomarkers, Clinical Implementation.
